The course explains how to build a personal cyber range for testing firewalls and demonstrates the features of three open-source network firewalls: pfSense, IPFire, and Neth Security. Instructor and cybersecurity expert Malcolm Shore explains how to install the firewalls into the Proxmox environment, as well as how to create and use virtual subnets. Malcolm demonstrates the use of the firewalls in the cyber range, showing how they work in concert with a SIEM solution to provide integrated defense and monitoring for cyber defense.
